The automatic downloads function is responsible for the fact that the iPhone or iPad itself downloads and installs applications. This feature allows you to automatically download purchased and even downloaded free applications (as well as music and books) on all your Apple devices.
In other words, if you have an iPhone and iPad, then with automatic downloads enabled, any application downloaded on the iPhone will be installed on the iPad. Of course, provided that both devices are authorized under the same Apple ID account.
So, if your iPhone downloads and installs apps by itself, you need to turn off automatic downloads. You can do this in the menu “Settings” → “«iTunes Store и App Store» by turning off the switch “Applications“. Here you can also prevent automatic downloading of other types of content.
